The Sailing Racing Results Program is written in Microsoft VBA for Excel. |
| |
The very minimum computer configuration to run this program is as follows: |
| | Windows XP or Vista or Windows7 |
| | If you are using Windows 98 or NT you may not be able to use the Upload to Web Site Feature if you havent kept your Windows software up to date |
| | YOU MAY NEED TO BE LOGGED ONTO YOUR COMPUTER WITH ADMINISTRATOR PRIVILEGES dependant upon your computers settings |
| | Office 2000 or later. |
| | Note: With Office XP and Office 2003 you will need to change the Macro Security Level in Excel to Medium (Open Excel do Tools, Macro, Security) to allow Macros to Run |
| | Note: With Office 2007 or Office 2010 you will need to change the Macro Security Level in Excel (Open Excel click on the office circle button at the top left, Excel Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings,Macro Settings, Enable All Macros, in Office 2010 tick Trust Acess to the VBA project model) to allow Macros to Run |
| | Please ensure your computer date is correct. |
| | A printer must be configured correctly. This program produces errors if no printer is configured. The program may not even install. |
| | Please do not use any standard excel functions while running the sailing results program. |
| | Move between input fields using Enter (You will get better results if you do NOT use Tab on Dialogs). |
| | When closing Excel after using these programs always use. Exit Excel and Save all Race Series |
| | Your computer must be set such that a decimal point is a full stop. If you normally use a different symbol then please change it in Windows Region and language or International settings (dependant upon your version of Windows) before using the Sailing Results Program. Please don't forget to change it back for normal use. |
| | This program does not work on Apple computers as it uses a significant number of Windows features |

Instructions for down loading onto your PC |
| | Firstly if you have an earlier version of office than Office 2007 Excel you will first need to change the Macro Security Level to Medium (Open Excel and do Tools, Macro, Security) to allow Macros to Run to run this program as it is Macros based |
| | Firstly if you have Office 2007or Later you will first need to change the Macro Security Level (Open Excel click on the office circle button at the top left, Excel Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings,Macro Settings, Enable All Macros) to allow Macros to Run to run this program as it is Macros based |
| | Activate the Results Program download at the bottom of this section |
| | The program can then transfer onto your PC |
| | A program called sail100.exe will be loaded onto your PC into the Folder you specify |
| | Now using Windows Explorer look at the down loaded file |
| | Double click your mouse on sail100.exe and the following files will emerge into a directory you specify. (There is a default directory of C:\sail100info) |
| | The program Install.xls will open into Excel |
| | You must have your Excel security set to Medium or Low otherwise Excel cannot run programs |
| | To set Excel security see firstly above |
| | You may be asked if you wish to enable Macros. You must enable Macros to run this program as it is Macros based |

Ensure your Macros Security is correctly set in Excel (See above) Ensure Excel is closed Click on Results Program (below) Click on SAVE Choose which folder to Download Sail100, Click on Save Remove tick in, Close this Dialog Box when Download completes When download completes, Click on Run Click on Unzip You may be asked if you trust Robert McPherson |

The program should automatically open in Excel Click on Install After installation Sail100 information will be in My Documents\Sail100info |

I issue new numbers every time I alter the code that runs the series. This applies even if the code does the same thing but I have found a way to improve performance. If the series needs updating it does that automatically when the Series is opened |

The install program can update any Series200 Series. See upgrade.doc in the download for details. |
